How Green is the biodiesel industry on a big scale.?Image

The Melbourne biodiesel Club has a policy of using waste vegetable oil. There for recycling what is otherwise a waste product. A resource that has already had its Embodied Energy consumed for the purpose of human food production.

However Biodiesel can be made from virgin oil, straight from the Rural Farmers Mill, and will probably produce a better yield of Biodiesel vs. Glycerine.

So just how green is large scale biodiesel production.

Considering that with the amount of cars, trucks, boats, generators, farm, construction and engineering machinery on the road and in the water today. To replace the fossil fuel industry TOTALLY with biodiesel would mean covering the entire planet with crops. this would mean the destruction of Natural environments.

NOTWITHSTANDING the development of ALGAE farming, a plant matter that has the highest possible yield of oil per organic mass, and the quickest possible growth period per gross organic mass.

We at the MBC accept that biodiesel is not a complete answer to our global problems, but it is an interim solution until such time as mankind can make the next big energy quantum leap to global renewable energy.

Biodiesel is already a renewable energy, but it has its faults on a huge commercial scale.

Due to commercial and corporate GREED renewable energy can be compromised, such as with Wind Farming. For example having one single wind turbine to sustain one collective community seldom gets protest. But to cover an entire peninsular with turbines, a large scale wind farm, always attracts community protest.
